Happy Independence Day

I love America.
All of it. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
America is not perfect, but I love it.
I love America unconditionally. Always have, always will.
I am proud that I am an American citizen.
I am honored that I was able to serve America as one of her soldiers.
I thank God for those who continue to fight for her.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. God bless America.
Happy Birthday America.

It Is The Soldier

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus agitator
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Happy birthday, America. You've made it so much longer than history predicted and you have so much further to go before you reach the destination of your faith and your potential.

May God bless us and may we have mercy on each other.
